Midwest Arts/NEA Grant

SPACE and Gaslight Theater Receive Midwest Arts/NEA Gig Grant

SPACE is excited to announce a Midwest Arts/ NEA Grant collaboration with Gaslight Playhouse. The Co-founders are gearing up to conduct a four-day workshop followed by a public presentation and talkback.  Following the presentation, a short reception will be held for all attendees. All activities will take place at the Community Learning Center in Kendallville in April. 10th – 13.

Gaslight Playhouse, the Community Theater of Noble County, is interested in creating and presenting original works. Therefore, future productions and short presentations could be created by a technique called devising. Ultimately, this type of presentation helps address community interests and concerns. As a result, Devising a performance can lead to lively discussions within a community.  Supporting Playwrights founders are working with the theater company in April 2025 to devise a new short creation so the company can learn new theatrical applications.  For more information, go to Gaslight:

Gaslight Playhouse

Gaslight Playhouse, Inc. is Noble County’s oldest community theatre and always seeks new talent to participate in the organization. The organization offers opportunities to be on the stage, behind the scenes (lighting, sound, orchestra, etc.), or sitting in the audience enjoying the production. In short, come and join their troupe, and keep up with what they have going on each season!

Gaslight Playhouse’s Mission Statement

Entertain. Collaborate. Educate

SPACE

Supporting Playwrights and Creative Expression strives to bring community connection into the areas where our SPACES exist. SPACE is a National organization that supports female playwrights in their creative work. The company is dedicated to the creative life of our communities. Subsequently, SPACE is partnering with Gaslight Playhouse for a devising workshop. This workshop creates theater from scratch. Similarly, in our Tennesee/North Carolina SPACE, we are holding a musical event for healing after the Hurricane. We look forward to hosting more events as we have SPACE set up across the country
